Body Image, Magazines, Tyra Banks
Okay, so I love Tyra Banks. I have seen every episode of every season of America’s Next Top Model several times, I have seen quite a few episodes of her show and would probably see all of them if they were available online, as I don’t particularly spend much time out of my office and there’s no television in here. All things considered, I think that Tyra Banks is a feminist role model, so this isn’t an un-feminist guilty pleasure.
And with that, this is perhaps my favorite clip of Tyra–Ever.

Since I have been introduced to internet, I even don’t care to watch the T.V. I think you can get everything on entertainment blogs and portals without much hassle. Thanks for sharing the clip.

I love this one! While I don’t watch her show, I do love Tyra Banks. It really pissed me off when they were saying she was fat in that picture. Plus, she was one of the first models to admit they airbrush the shit out of those and admit she was a real person with cellulite like the rest of us!

Yeah, I was thinking that too Tracee Sioux.
I’m not much of a fan of Tyra Banks. She’s probably a great gal and all, but I don’t guess I grasp her role and popularity as America’s top advocate for female body acceptance. Maybe the bias comes from the fact that she’s a super-model deemed far more attractive than the average woman, claiming authority as a spokeswoman for “fat acceptance” for an audience of fashion-praising, self-conscious women. The tears during just about every show of hers I’ve watched (which is very few) don’t help.
But maybe I’m calloused and pop culture-ignorant. I’d be more inclined to sit through talk of body consciousness from celebrities like, say, Janet Jackson or Kirstie Alley who have actual experience being “fat.” That is if I actually cared to hear the celebrity POV in the first place.
Ok, taking my cynical ass elsewhere now!

I’ve actually never watched Tyra before but I did hear that she got unflattering pictures of her taken. It’s so refreshing that she fought back. Like please, what’s the body fat % of all these tabloid types that criticize when they are probably desk jockeys.
