New Layout–Yes, Again
As you could most definitely notice if you’ve ever been here before, I have a new layout. After realizing that my 404 page broke the entire last theme I had up, I decided to spend the last two days trying to fix it. When that didn’t work, I made a whole new layout. Now, if you happen to stumble upon a 404 page, the entire theme doesn’t just suddenly break.
Hope everyone likes it, I realize it looks a bit ridiculous in IE at the moment, but I’ll be working on fixing that within the week.
Update:
The problems with IE have been fixed, but if anyone else encounters any errors please tell me about them and also include what browser you use. Thanks!
Comments are Now Run by Intense Debate
Due to the latest intense debate here at Menstrual Poetry regarding what else–Abortion, of course, I decided that what this site really needs is a comment system that will allow commentators to follow a debate between one, two or several people by being able to reply to comments.
I used to have a threaded comments plugin running here, but because conversations between people on a topic aren’t necessarily “I don’t agree with you and here’s why” and then the other person says “Okay, cool” and then it’s done, the threaded comments plugin simply was not good enough because it only let you reply to a comment once–which was no good.
Earlier today I asked a friend of mine about her comments section, since I saw that she ran a program that looked like it was exactly what I wanted to do here. After learning a little about it, I decided that Intense Debate was the best choice for what not only I would like to see here, but what commentators are obviously in need of. Not only does Intense Debate let you reply to comments and have an actual conversation within the comments section, but it also has a voting feature, so if someone’s comment really pisses you off, you can let them know by clicking the neat thumbs down button; which I know quite a few people will enjoy. It’s a really great system, in my opinion and it’s run by a simple Wordpress plugin. If you’re interested in checking it out, you can begin the installation process by clicking here. here.
This system is also going to make it a lot easier for me to reply to comments, which I will begin doing a great deal more; isn’t that exciting?!
Menstrual Poetry on MySpace
Menstrual Poetry has it’s very own MySpace page. It should have come a lot sooner, but there are now some cool link buttons up and more content is in the making, including a weekly digest of all of the most popular posts here at Menstrual Poetry; so if you can’t check here but you happen to be on MySpace, I got you covered.

Alltop: All Top Sites on the Web
Alltop is a pretty cool website that I often go to for new blogs to read and to keep up on all of the media and political news going on. It’s a really interesting site displaying all of the top sites on the web today under several different categories as well as the last five posts that website has up; you can hover over the title of the post and it comes up with a little snippet of the post so you can decide whether or not you would like to read through the whole post. You can also go to the website’s main page by clicking on the site name. There’s something there for everyone so you are never let down by the websites listed. It is also updated regularly with new sites, so there’s something new to be found fairly regularly.
Now how this directly relates to this website is simple. Menstrual Poetry has recently been added to Alltop under the life category, in which I am extremely delighted about.
Menstrual Poetry is now gaining more attention in the very large website world, so this is definitely a triumph. Now when you’re over there going through websites and catching up on the latest news, you can keep up with the posts here as well!
New Theme and Some Updates
Menstrual Poetry has a new layout!
Not a lot changed, as you can probably tell if you’re a frequent visitor; just some minor color changes, specifically with the grey and I have also kept a more fluid look with the fonts–I am obviously a huge fan of Arial at the moment. Other than that, the layout is pretty much the same as it was. However, what you may notice, again if you’re a frequent visitor, is that I cleaned up my ridiculously long sidebar problem I was having. All links that were in the sidebar can now be found here. I also changed how the comments look a bit, which hopefully spruces up that section, since I was sick of so much white everywhere.
Hope everyone likes the new layout and if you don’t, then you’re out of luck because I love it.
