Comments are Now Run by Intense Debate

Due to the latest intense debate here at Menstrual Poetry regarding what else–Abortion, of course, I decided that what this site really needs is a comment system that will allow commentators to follow a debate between one, two or several people by being able to reply to comments.

I used to have a threaded comments plugin running here, but because conversations between people on a topic aren’t necessarily “I don’t agree with you and here’s why” and then the other person says “Okay, cool” and then it’s done, the threaded comments plugin simply was not good enough because it only let you reply to a comment once–which was no good.

Earlier today I asked a friend of mine about her comments section, since I saw that she ran a program that looked like it was exactly what I wanted to do here. After learning a little about it, I decided that Intense Debate was the best choice for what not only I would like to see here, but what commentators are obviously in need of. Not only does Intense Debate let you reply to comments and have an actual conversation within the comments section, but it also has a voting feature, so if someone’s comment really pisses you off, you can let them know by clicking the neat thumbs down button; which I know quite a few people will enjoy. This system is also going to make it a lot easier for me to reply to comments, which I will begin doing a great deal more; isn’t that exciting?!
