  • there was no line at all and i was voting in ohio. i did stop by starbucks to get my free coffee. there was a longer wait there.
  • i can't help thinking it's awesome that there has been such long lines all over... people taking a greater interest in public issues is always a good thing
  • I ordered an absentee ballot and mailed it back last week, so no lines for me.

Since I live in San Francisco, it was a really exciting day. Just Monday we had been bombarded by rainstorms, but when the sun came up on Tuesday it was clear and bright. All the dirt of the city had been washed clean and everyone was jittery with excitement. Everyone voted, and everyone was patient waiting in lines. They talked about how exciting it all was, how so many people were turning out to vote. My boyfriend made cookies for the poll workers and everyone was very pleasant, even after waiting 45 minutes to get their chance to vote.
  • I went in my kitchen, unfolded my ballot, and whipped out my ballpoint pen. a few minutes later i was done, i placed it in the envelope and scurried down to the mailbox. i will be doing this from now on. sure it lacks the certain sense of excitement of going to the polls on election day, but it makes up for it by being pleasant and effortless.

maybe we're supposed to suffer a little for our voting rights? our ancestors had to brave violence and intimidation to have their voices heard, maybe it should be hard. but my life is hard enough right now, so i was grateful for the ease.
  • I am so glad that you were able to vote in a pleasant and effortless way. I kind of like going to the polls and telling the people trying to sway my vote to the other side to leave me alone if they know what's good for them and going in and proudly stating my name like "I'm Holly and I have come to cast my ballot and let my voice be heard!" Now, of course, this can all be due to the fact that this election is only the second election I have been able to vote in due to age, so it's still new to me and still exciting and I'm sure that over the course of the next few elections I will lose that excitement.
  • Since I am not an American citizen (though I still pay taxes WTF), I cannot vote. However I did vote along with my partner, and delivered the mail-in ballot to the box yesterday.
