President Obama’s Victory Speech: A Proud Moment for America
Barack Obama celebrated in Grant Park just before midnight this morning and addressed his supporters as well as the country as President-Elect. Obama started his speech with:
“If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.”
He could not have been more spot on in that statement. Over the past year or so the citizens of this country have been fighting tooth and nail, speaking with their families, friends and neighbors, volunteering and dedicating their time for the change that this country needs. While many are celebrating the victory of Barack Obama being elected the 44th president of the United States and I may add, the very first African American president to be elected into this office, he assured us that this victory is not his, it is ours.
Obama promised, “I will listen to you… I will ask you join in the work of remaking this nation… Block by block, brick by brick, callused hand by callused hand.” and for the first time in my, albeit short, life, I am proud to be an American and look forward to the work that lies ahead of us. I am proud to say that I voted for a presidential ticket that is solid, worthy of respect and worthy of my precious vote.
Barack Obama’s victory speech was inspirational, motivational and finally instilled that sense of pride in the citizens of this country who were told that there was no hope and who had lost hope in the country they live in.
