Stop Protecting Pedophiles

Magaldi I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again–The Roman Catholic church is absolutely fucked. But wait! Before you go sharpening your crucifixes and sending the “You’re going to hell!” emails, I have very valid points to back that statement up!

There have been so many cases of sexual assault crimes committed by priests that have come up in just the last few years that the Fort Worth, Texas Roman Catholic Diocese, as only of a million examples, has 700 pages of “secret files” that were part of a sexual abuse lawsuit settled in 2005. One lawsuit, 700 pages and six priests of the Fort Worth Diocese that had been brought to court on sexual abuse charges–One of which being Rev. Philip A. Magaldi.

Magaldi has made quite a record for himself through the years, serving in parishes for nearly four decades in two states–Providence, Rhode Island during the years 1960-1990 and in the Fort Worth area in Texas from 1990-1992 and 1993-1999.

If you’re like me, you immediately noticed the “hiatus” period in 1992-1993. Well, that is due to Magaldi serving time in prison after embezzling about $200,000 from his Rhode Island parish. Nice, huh? You would think that this would be their first clue that Magaldi probably isn’t the best person to have around. However, the church never does take to clues and hints kindly, as there had also been three separate allegations reported against Magaldi in 1998, 2002 and 2007 for sexual abuse of minors. So, as the church does with any priest caught lying, cheating, embezzling, molesting, raping and the list goes on, they relocated him to another church in another state to be their problem, instead.

While in the Fort Worth parish, another pastor at the church later apologized for not speaking up about Magaldi and the obscene nature of files on his computer involving minors. As of now, Magaldi is 71 years old and living in a retirement center in which the diocese refused to give the name of…of course; and while obviously in the late years of his life, he is probably kicking back, relaxing, thinking that all of this trouble is behind him when suddenly word gets out that this man has not only been sexually abusing minors, but has been HIV positive since at least 2003.

The first thing that went through my head was “Good for him!” since I don’t believe that anyone who is accused of sexual abuse goes the rest of their lives without karma getting to them–and karma is a bitch. However, this man had sexually abused at least five different minors during his four decades serving as a priest and not only do those children have to live with being sexually abused, but they may have also contracted a terminal illness, since HIV causes AIDS.

The church needs to stop protecting, condoning and relocating pedophiles. There are hundreds of these cases that have come to light and many others that have not, since not all people who have been sexually abused ever come forward with their experiences and in those cases, this cannot be the first one in which the scumbag priest has HIV; this is just the one that made the news.

Talk about irresponsible… The Catholic Church has quite the history of hushing their wrong doings; who knows how many more hundreds of years will it take them to acknowledge that they have problems. Plus, all of these children are definitely in a bigger risk of developing AIDS because: a) they most likely don’t know they’ve been infected, and b) it’s extremely difficult for abused children to speak up, so their parents might never have the chance to get them checked-up, thus leaving them untreated.

It’s amazing how priests are outcast, relieved from their pastoral duties and punished with excommunication if they fall in love with a woman, yet protect and keep their pedophiliac counterparts. Clearly, their priorities are skewed.

Ugh, that makes me sick. He’ll get his. I doubt St. Peter will open the Pearly Gates for him.

This doesn’t come as any surprise to me. In its simplest form, the Church is just another organization with a set power structure. Any such organization will suffer from some form of corruption due to human nature. Someone will always want to do something they aren’t supposed to just for the sake of doing it, regardless of who it may harm in the process. Granted, this case is a rather egregious example of said behavioral tendency, but still, the central workings of organized religion can be just as nasty as the upper management of a corporation, regardless of how many rules there are against the activity in question. With that comparison in mind, these corrupt so-called religious leaders ought to be doing 20 to life in prison, perhaps sharing a cell with the latest corporate criminals.

While I’ve never been a huge fan of the Catholic Church, this is what makes them pure evil in my opinion. There is just too much evidence that they are looking away from this sort of behavior, and that undermines everything else that the entire organization claims to support.

I can’t imagine another social setting or group where news of a pedophile would turn into anything less than a full-scale manhunt (outside of NAMBLA, of course).

  13. The short term financial assistance that payday lenders offer, often are one of the fastest and safest ways out of a sticky financial situation if used responsibly. Unfortunately, people of somewhat political importance don’t see it this way, probably because they have never been in a situation that would require a little help from the payday loan industry. These bipartisan efforts to outlaw the entire industry just go to show how detached they are from real Americans. Get educated on the facts today and exercise your right to financial freedom on November 4th.

  14. A big reason why people don’t seek temporary financial assistance from places such as traditional banks, credit unions or credit card companies is the hassle. Whether taking out bank loans or putting whatever debt you’re facing on credit, approval processes are long, drawn out and normally exclude a large portion of the population whose credit history isn’t exactly great. And even if you are approved to borrow money, most of these other avenues won’t lend you small amounts, such as one or two hundred dollars, to hold you over until your next payday or cover the cost of a minor, yet urgent, car repair. When you apply for financial assistance with the help of our company, help is available for more people, with most lenders that we refer you to, never performing credit checks before making an approval decision. Most of the lenders also do not require faxing of documents. It's all quick and easy.
