New Theme and Some Updates

March 24, 2008 · Filed Under Menstrual Poetry News ·

Menstrual Poetry has a new layout!

Not a lot changed, as you can probably tell if you’re a frequent visitor; just some minor color changes, specifically with the grey and I have also kept a more fluid look with the fonts–I am obviously a huge fan of Arial at the moment. Other than that, the layout is pretty much the same as it was. However, what you may notice, again if you’re a frequent visitor, is that I cleaned up my ridiculously long sidebar problem I was having. All links that were in the sidebar can now be found here. I also changed how the comments look a bit, which hopefully spruces up that section, since I was sick of so much white everywhere.

Hope everyone likes the new layout and if you don’t, then you’re out of luck because I love it.

Comment System Tweaked and the Cold from Hell

February 17, 2008 · Filed Under Life, Menstrual Poetry News ·

I’m always looking for ways to make Menstrual Poetry stand out and be the very best that it can be. In my efforts, I have changed the way the comment system here will work from now on which I am quite pleased with.

Due to the nature of the topics that I write about, people have occasionally replied to comments made before them and some have even encountered a small debate or two. This is not only fine with me, but is encouraged. I believe in everyone’s right to free speech and people should have the right to say what they would like here and others have the right to question and debate what previous commenters have stated. Because of this I have installed a new plugin, Brian’s Threaded Comments, which places a ‘reply to this comment’ link at the bottom of every comment.

Other than that, the lack of an actual thought out post can be blamed on having the cold from hell. These two items have been my lifelines:

Lipton tea

Lipton cranberry pomegranate tea with organic honey added and not only walking around, but even sleeping with a roll of toilet paper because my nose has not stopped running! Needless to say, I am miserable, have a constant headache and cannot get enough sleep partly due to the fact that every time I sleep, I wake up several times to blow my nose.

I am also severely lacking motivation of any kind, which makes working on my other websites a joke. Speaking of which, everyone should go check out Woman Tribune. It took a mild hiatus but is getting back on its feet.

New Theme to Match the New Apartment

I figured that it was only logical that while my daily surroundings have changed drastically, this website’s look should be spruced up a bit as well. I went back to the old colors that Menstrual Poetry had towards the beginning and also went a bit simpler with the colors and the design in general.

I feel as if more websites need to go back to the simpler designs and avoid the designs with the black backgrounds and neon green and pink text colors. Simple pays off, simple puts people at ease, or at the very least makes what you have to say a lot easier to read. Outrageous neon colors on black backgrounds makes eyes bleed.

Hope you enjoy the new theme!

Menstrual Poetry Headquarters is Moving!

January 28, 2008 · Filed Under Menstrual Poetry News ·

The lack of updates, along with the missing week of Feminism at its Finest is due to packing up the last 2 years of material possessions I have accumulated along with the boyfriend’s past 9 years of accumulated junk into boxes and moving!

Moving is, of course, a very exciting (especially if you’re leaving Scranton, Pennsylvania, which I cannot even begin to stress how happy it makes me to say that I am) but also a very hectic time with very little else left in the day to do but eat and sleep. However, within a few days we shall be completely moved into our new place, internet will hopefully be set up soon after, and Menstrual Poetry will be back not only in full swing, but better (and more frequent) than before!
