Urge President-Elect Obama to Restore Women’s Reproductive Freedom

Last month, as a holiday gift to American women, George Bush issued a dangerous and out of touch regulation part of a string of regulations known as the now famous “midnight regulations” that would allow everyone from a woman’s doctor, or even her doctor’s receptionist to deny women birth control and routine birth control services.

This new regulation is a tremendous leap backward for women’s reproductive and sexual health and denies women access to reproductive health care. Insurance companies would have the power to deny claims for birth control pills, hospitals could refuse emergency contraception to rape survivors and federally-funded clinics could refuse to give their patients advice or information about birth control.

98% of women in this country take birth control at some point in their lives. This regulation could affect any of us, no matter where we live, and we cannot afford to wait until it does. That is why we must urge President-Elect Obama to restore women’s reproductive freedom and reverse this regulation once he gets into office.

Click here to urge President-Elect Obama to make the reversal of this dangerous regulation a top priority.

This is terrible. I live in Canada, but to think that a neighbour so close to me has done this to his own country; we all dislike Bush. Everything that women have worked so hard for, suddenly seems to be falling backwards. This shouldn't be happening!
